Minnesota Governor Speaks in Marshall
Freeman Will Kick Off Area Drive For Sen. Humphrey at St. Joseph

The governor of Minnesota kicks off Saturday what probably will be an all-out effort by Humphrey-for-resident forces for votes in Northern Panhandle within the next week. Gov. Orville Freeman of Minnesota, a long-time friend of Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey and co-chairman of the national Humphrey-for-president committee is to speak tomorrow night in Marshall County.
Governor Freeman is scheduled to be the guest speaker at a rally in St. Joseph at 8:30 Saturday. St. Joseph is some 12 miles east of State Rt. 2 near the Wetzel county line.
Senator Humphrey of Minnesota will come to Wheeling the evening of May 4 to begin his political stumping of the Northern Panhandle the next day.
Humphrey and Sen. John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts are both in the May 10 primary on the Democratic ballot for the presidential nomination.
The Minnesota senator is scheduled to speak at Bethany College at 10 a.m. May 5 on "Issues in the Presidential Campaign of 1960." The Northern Panhandle will be announced this weekend.
Bethany College will also be host to Sen. Norris Cotton (R-N.H.) who will be the guest speaker May 4 at 10 a.m. in "The New Dimensions of American Political Parties."
Norris and Humphrey are some of the guest speakers at Bethany College's first annual seminar in politics on May 4 and 5.
William Ross, professor of political science at West Virginia University, is scheduled to speak on May 4 at 3:15 p.m. on "A Delegate Looks at a National Convention.
The following day William H. Stringer, chief of the Washington bureau of the Christian Science Monitor, will speak at 2 pm. On "Issues and Candidates at the Democratic National Convention."
