Glenville - Karl V. Rolvaag, lieutenant-governor of Minnesota, was in Gilmer County Friday afternoon campaigning on behalf of Senator Hubert Humphrey.

He came here after visits in other Central West Virginia counties and at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon met with voters for a coffee hour at the Hotel Conrad.

In a brief press conference Mr. Rolvaag said, "Don't discount the West Virginia primary. It is very significant in the eyes of the Nation and the man who wins here will go a long way toward getting the presidential nomination."

Senator Humphrey has been finding the people of West Virginia warm and friendly. The State is very active politically. Even the school children are showing an interest."

Referring to a statement from the Kennedy forces that a vote for Humphrey would be lost in West Virginia, Mr. Rolvaag emphasized that Senator Kennedy will have trouble in the Midwest, especially among the farm voters.

Rolvaag left here immediately after the coffee hour, for Beckley. He said there was some possibility that Stnator [sic] Humphrey might come through this part of the state next week-end.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., will make five appearances in West Virginia today in support of the presidential candidacy of U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy.

He will be at Richwood at 9:30 a. m.; Camden-on-Gauley, 12 noon; Cowen, 1 p. m.; Parsons, Tucker County, at 4 p. m., and tonight he will appear at a rally at Rainelle.

The schedule was announced by Senator Kennedy's headquarters.
