Hinton Around...By J. E. Faulconer
Kennedy Manager Here
April 22, 1960
A very interesting and personable man was in Hinton Wednesday making arrangements for the appearance here next week of Senator John F. Kennedy, Democratic aspirant for president.
The visitor was Ben A. Smith, of Gloucester, Mass., and campaign manager for Senator Kennedy.
Smith, a former mayor of Gloucester, was also the roommate of Kennedy's when both were students at Harvard.
While final arrangements have not been completed for Kennedy's appearance in Hinton, it is believed that he will come here before noon next Wednesday, and after a talk at the court house park, and mingling with the voters will leave for Alderson, Ronceverte, Lewisburg and White Sulphur.
It is expected that he will remain in Hinton for about two hours, and there is a possibility that an informal luncheon will be arrange in his honor. He will be accompanied here by his wife, and if she is as charming as her pictures indicate she will undoubtedly aid his cause quite a bit.
Attorney Forest L. McNeer is in charge of the Kennedy arrangements here, and complete details of his visit will be announced later...
