The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History will host a week of brown
bag concerts on Dec. 6 through 10, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Cultural Center,
State Capitol Complex in Charleston. Music lovers are invited to bring a lunch
and enjoy the music in the Great Hall. The concerts, part of the Holly-loo-ya!
Holiday Celebration, are free and open to the public.
On Monday, Dec. 6, visitors can hear the folk tunes of John Ross at noon, and
Dave McCormick’s folk and original music at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7
will feature the band Bonzer which specializes in acoustic roots, soul and ambient
music. The rock and roll, blues and soul music of the Soul Doctors will enliven
the Wednesday, Dec. 8 lunch hour. The Almost Heaven Chorus, a female four-part
harmony choir, will be showcased on Thursday, Dec. 9, and rounding out the week
of concerts is the bluegrass band, Front Page, on Friday, Dec. 10.
Visitors also can see the “Choo Choo . . . Trains!” exhibit with
the Greater Kanawha County Model Railroad Club in the Balcony Gallery of the
Cultural Center. The train exhibit will be on display from Dec. 4 - 12.
