The West Virginia Commission on the Arts (WVCA) and the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History have scheduled workshops throughout the state to give individual artists and arts professionals information they need to apply for grants from the WVCA and the Division. The workshops are free and open to artists in all disciplines, including theater, dance, literature, video, music, film, performance and visual arts.
The workshops will focus on Artist Fellowship grant applications, which have a postmark deadline of Sept. 1, 2005, and Professional Development grant applications, which are due Feb. 1, 2006. Applications for these grants will be mailed to artists listed on the Division’s Artists’ Register. The applications also will be available online soon at www.wvculture.org/arts.
The first workshop will take place on Tuesday, July 12, from 12:30 - 2 p.m. at the Huntington Museum of Art, 2033 McCoy Road, Huntington. Additional meetings will be held on Thursday, July 14, from noon - 2 p.m. at the Randolph Community Arts Council, corner of Park St. and Randolph Ave., Elkins; Tuesday, July 19, from noon - 2 p.m. at the Cultural Center, 1900 Kanawha Blvd., E., Charleston; and Thursday, July 21, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Morgantown Public Library, 373 Spruce St., Morgantown.
