The Arts Section of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History is partnering with the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) to present a workshop, entitled Resources for Change: New Technologies, for small and mid-sized arts organizations in West Virginia. Each workshop will have a morning session, lunch and an afternoon session.
The morning session will focus on management issues. Members of the CATF staff will discuss their New Technologies project, funded in part through the National Endowment for the Arts. Presenters will share their experiences in CATF’s transition to a new computer system, specifically designed for a small to mid-sized organization. Participants will learn how they can develop their own integrated database to handle ticketing, fundraising, accounting and mailing list functions.
In the afternoon, the session will concentrate on production. Regional theater technicians and CATF staff will present information on new technology for the performing arts. Participants will experience innovative techniques in lighting, sound, and set design, with time set aside for discussion about their organizations’ needs and concerns as well as available resources.
The workshop will be held at the Cultural Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. The morning session begins at 10 a.m., lunch is at 12:15 p.m. and the second session begins at 1 p.m.
Participants may attend either session for $10 each or both for $20. Lunch is $5, or included for free if both sessions are attended.
