The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History and the West Virginia Department of Education will sponsor a two-day workshop for public school dance teachers next month at the Cultural Center in the State Capitol Complex, Charleston. The program will be held in conjunction with the annual West Virginia Dance Festival and will include opportunities for public school teachers to participate in dance classes, network with their peers, and earn professional development credits.
The teachers’ workshop will begin on Saturday, April 27, with classes in modern and jazz dance; sessions focusing on the Department of Education’s new dance program guidelines, artist-in-residence programs for schools and the future of dance education in West Virginia; and a performance featuring young dance students and guest artists. Sunday, April 28, will feature dance classes taught by the festival’s master teachers.
The cost of the two-day workshop is $15. The registration deadline is April 9.
