The Industry of Culture consortium has scheduled a series of outreach meetings across West Virginia this fall and winter. Conley Salyer of the West Virginia Development Office, Richard Ressmeyer of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History and Elizabeth Damewood, project facilitator from the firm of Terrell Ellis & Associates will convene the meetings. The outreach sessions are free and open to the public.
The consortium will present results of surveys demonstrating the economic impact of the creative economy of arts, craft and cultural organizations in the state, gather information for cultural mapping for marketing cultural tourism, and set goals for new publications and communication systems to advance the success of the arts.
The first meeting will take place on Friday, Nov. 18, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Council, corner of Park St. and Randolph Ave., Elkins. Additional meetings will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Tamarack, exit 45 off I-77-64, Beckley; and Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Drinko Library, Room 402, on Marshall University campus, Huntington.
The Industry of Culture consortium has more than 60 participating arts organizations and artists. Its work is supported in part by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.
