The Water Resources Development Act of 2000 provides for the preservation and restoration of the historic Albert Gallatin Jenkins house, located within the Lesage/Greenbottom Swamp. The Huntington District Corps of Engineers and the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History will hold a public meeting in Huntington next week to gather information for developing a strategy for the restoration of the house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Division operates the house as the Jenkins Plantation Museum.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at the new Huntington High School, One Highlander Way, Huntington. The school is located off the Hal Greer Boulevard exit of I-64. Signs will be posted to direct the public to the facility.

For those unable to attend the meeting, written comments will be accepted and can be sent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, ATTN: Public Affairs, 502 Eighth Street, Huntington, WV 25701-2070.
