Museum in the Park at Chief Logan State Park to resume art workshop series for children and adults

The Museum in the Park at Chief Logan State Park will continue its winter/spring art workshop series for children and adults on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006. Classes for children will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and classes for adults will be held from 2 - 5 p.m. The workshops are free and open to the public.

Children of all ages are invited to come and try their hand at creating Valentine’s Day crafts. Kids can create art using paper, glue, felt, paint and other craft materials. Because of the nature of the activity, children should wear their play clothes and bring a smock. Adults must accompany all children.

The adult workshop (for ages 16 and over) is “Grisaille Painting,” a process in which the artist paints a painting in one color, usually black and white, and then uses semi-transparent glazes of colored paint to finish the work. The adult workshops are limited to 15 participants, and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested are encouraged to call and reserve a spot.

Classes will be taught by Adam Hodges, programming specialist for the Museum. Hodges has taught adult courses in art at Marshall University, Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., and the Huntington Museum of Art, and served as an assistant for the Huntington Museum of Art’s Art Day Camp for Kids for three years.

The Museum in the Park is a regional cultural center showcasing the best in West Virginia history and the arts.
