I Philip Cox Adjutant of the 165 Regt Va
m a do hereby certify that on the 18th day
of july 1863; at the town of Troy in the said
County of Gilmer; I superintending the Election
of a captain and two Lieutenants of an
Independendent composing of Volunteer Militia. At
which Election the votes being given Viva Voce
a majority was found to be in favor of John
H. Bush for Captain; a majority in favor of
David Heckert for first Liertenant and a
majority in favor David H Steinbeck
for second Lieutenant of Said company
I further certify that the said John H. Bush was
duly elected captain, David Heckert first
and David H Steinbeck second Lieutenant of
said company, and that said Election was fairly
and honestly conducted, and that a majority
of said company of 46 men was present
and voted at said election. Given under my hand
the day and date above. Philip Cox
