I Philip Cox adjuctant of the 165 Regiment, Virginia militia do hereby certify that on the 22nd day of March 1862 at the residence of Charles Brown on Sinking Creek in the Said County of Gilmer. I superintended the election of a captain and two Lievtenants of one of the companies of Said Regiment. Where the votes of all the members of the company present, being given viva vote a maj ority was found to be in favor of Jacob Hall for Cap- tain, and a majority was found to be in favor of John Wyler for first Lt And a majority was found to be in favor of John W Bush for 2nd Lt. I therefore certify that Jacob Wyers was duly elected first Lt. and that John W Bush was duly elected Second Lt. of the Said Company, to fill the vacancy accasioned by the former officers of the Said Com pany to take the Several others prescribed by Law, and That a majority of the persons entitled to vote were present, and that the election was fairly and Justly conducted.
