In reply to your enqury[sic] of the 6th ins[unreadable] in would say in regard to pleasant Fitshalmick That he resides on the south side of the County and Could not or did not get to see him if you think it highly important return the rolls and I will go and see him and get him to sign them
As [unreadable]. Peter. Hefner (deceased) I spoke to his widow about signg[sic] the pay Roll for her late husband I was under the impression that she did if she did not she resides near here and I can procure her signature yet
I sent you a lot of Clothing and Guns &c have they arivd[sic] L Stump Co shipped them perhaps in their own name
I found when I come to examine my ordinance department that there was seval several small artides missing Such as Gun Straps waist Belts &c that I cannot account for only that they were always a surplus of Gun fixtures &c on hand more than men and these Guns &c were stowed in our block House and no way keep the men and public from haveing[sic] access to them and again we moved them from the Front and secreted them at Citzens[sic] houses who at a time when we thought there was danger of there falling into the hands of the eneimy[sic]
it perhaps was then that these missing articles were lost or Stolen by I cannot account for it in no other way and perhaps there was some clothing lost in the same way
I have twenty five Gun, here yet with the equipments all perfect that I retaind[sic] for a home Guard Company here I have a sufficient number of said Company recruited and sworn in but and have not been able to get company togather[sic] and elect the necessary Officers
I send a few small claims for Halling
If you all think best I will abandon our Home Gard[sic] Company and ship you the balance of Guns &c
