The Rebels Routed in Roane County

THE REBELS ROUTED IN ROANE COUNTY. - We learn from Lieut. David Bell, Quartermaster of the 11th Virginia Regiment, that on Saturday last, Col. Rathbone, of that regiment, sent out scouting parties from Spencer under the command of Captain Myers and Lieuts. Parks, Ross, and Fisher, to proceed in the direction of "Big Bend," on the Little Kanawha. One of the squads, under the command of Lieut Ross has just returned, and reports having fallen in with rebels and killed four, viz; David Gibson, Liss Morgan, Henry Ratch:(?), and Alfred Maze. They also mortally wounded Andy Dusky, since died. On Sunday night, the squad under Lieut. Ross, came upon twenty other rebels. They fired and gave chase. The next morning, on visiting the ground, they found it covered with blood in several places. The inhabitants say that eleven were killed, including Captain Downs; the noted guerilla, and a number wounded. The other parties have not yet returned, and no report had been received when Lieut. Bell left.
