STATE DEFENCE. - A meeting to devise means for the defence of Western Virginia was held in the room occupied by the House of Delegates, on Friday night last.
Mr. Young favored the calling out of ten thousand State militia. Mr. Carskadon suggested that the Secretary of War be asked for protection for Western Virginia. Mr. Farnsworth offered a preamble and a number of resolutions, in which a desire for a change of military commanders in Western Virginia was expressed. Mr. F. spoke at length in support of his views, and was followed by a number of gentlemen some favoring his policy and others objected to it.
