This regiment, numbering, one thousand and seventy-odd good men, were drawn up in front of the Custom House on Saturday, and were addressed by Gov. Boreman, Col. Joe [Snider] and Lt. Col. Sam Snyder, Col. Lockwood, Col. Capehart and Adjutant General Pierpoint. The object was, if possible, to induce the men, who have served six months, to re-enlist under their present organization, as they are about to mustered out of the service. The time allotted for their re-enlistment as veteran troops, and the payment of large bounties expires to-day, and the Governor, in his appeal to the men, promised that if two-thirds of them re-enlisted he would see that they received a furlough of thirty days and three hundred dollars bounty. The Adjutant General, at the conclusion of his brief address to the men, requested the officers to go among the boys and take down the names of all who might desire to re-enlist, and report to the Governor at 12 o'clock on Sunday, (yesterday), that communication may be had with the War Department at once. We presume this was done, and we shall therefore know today whether or not the men wish to re-enlist. They are certainly a fine body of men, and it will be generally regretted if the Government should lose their services.
