January 29, 1863
The Three women now in custody of the Provost Marshall - Marion McKinsey, Mary Jane Prater and Mary Jane Green - are held by order of the Commissary of Prisoners. The two former were arrested for wearing the uniform of soldiers and enlisting in the service of the United States, and the latter is charged with cutting down the telegraph wires of the Government and carrying rebel mail matter. We believe Major Darr made an application to have Miss Prater, who is only seventeen years of age, admitted into a house of refuge, but did not succeed.
