Marine Private Raymond H. Jones wrote his father from Okinawa, hoping that his brother Dale would not be drafted. Ray was killed May 10, 1945 while Dale was captured and died as a prisoner of war during the Korean War.

How is things up at collier encluding your self & the kids fine I do hope. I am in the best of health. I have just been laying around the last couple of days. Pop please write or get Bernice or Lola to write so I will know how you are. Pop I think hoye was out here at least one of the boys told me he saw the ship he was on out here in the bay. How is the old chevy going or is it. I heard that dale is working in the mill know & I guess that will help you out plenty. Pop I do hope that dale don't have to come over here in fact anybody. just leave out all comforts of home & you will have it. Well pop take good care of of yourself & I'll be back one of these days.
