Aubrey Chester McClung
1927-1951

Aubrey Chester McClung was born May 4, 1927, in Levisay, West Virginia, the only son of four children born to Chester and Lora Bailes McClung.

Aubrey graduated from Richwood High School and entered the military late in 1945. Later, he attended West Virginia University. While a college student he was a member of the La Tertulla Spanish Honorary Society, Phi Epsilon Phi Botany Honorary Society and the Phi Kappa Sigma national social fraternity. He was vice president of the Alpha Chapter and the first president of the State Collegiate Academy of Science. He graduated in June 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in botany and a minor in zoology. On March 12, 1951, he married Anna Fay Pittsenbarger.

Following graduation at Morgantown, Aubrey McClung received a commission as a second lieutenant and served in Korea with the 14th Infantry, 25th Division. He was killed action of September 20, 1951. His body was returned to the United States and interred in Carl Cemetery in Nicholas County, West Virginia.
