The West Virginia Women’s Commission in collaboration with the West Virginia Division of Culture and History will present a panel discussion entitled “Women of West Virginia: A Life of Public Service” on Tuesday, March 31, at 4 p.m., in the Norman L. Fagan West Virginia State Theater at the Cultural Center, State Capitol Complex, Charleston. The discussion is timed to wrap up Women’s History Month activities. A reception will follow the panel’s dialogue. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
The Women’s Commission invited women who have been leaders through advocacy, education and activism to participate in the discussion on the importance of women becoming involved in their state and national government. Panelists include Sue Julian, team leader for West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence; Cleo Mathews, mayor of Hinton; Dr. Montserrat Miller, associate professor of history, Marshall University; and Adrienne Worthy, executive director of Legal Aid of West Virginia. The discussion will be followed by a question and answer session and then adjourn to the Great Hall for a reception.
