Gov. Joe Manchin III will commemorate the eighth anniversary of 9/11 with a remembrance ceremony tomorrow at 10 a.m., on the north side of the State Capitol building.
The program will include the Presentation and Posting of Colors by South Charleston High School Air Force JROTC; the singing of the National Anthem by Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History; the Pledge of Allegiance led by children from the Kindergarten class at Overbrook Elementary School in Charleston and the West Virginia Public Employees Day Care; Prayer by Father Carlos Melocton, Jr., Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral; remarks by First Lady Gayle C. Manchin; remarks by the governor; Presentation of the Volunteer West Virginia Proclamation by the governor and first lady; remarks by Dr. Kenneth Ambrose; and the Ringing of the Liberty Bell. The program will conclude with bagpipe selections by John Cox of the Kanawha Valley Fife and Drum Corps.
