The West Virginia Division of Culture and History will present a “Discover Arts and Crafts” workshop at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston, with basketmaker Joyce Cain of Tanner, W.Va. The basket-making workshop is for participants aged 15 years and older and registration is required.
On Saturday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., visitors can make a 12-inch by 20-inch rectangular basket with feet, and measures eight and one-half inches deep. The basket will have a handle and participants have the option of adding a braid or leaving it plain. Different choices of accent colors will be available.
There is a $25 fee for the workshop and an additional $15 materials fee that is paid directly to Cain. Class size is limited to 15 participants, and the registration fee must be paid in advance to reserve a space in the workshop.
