The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History will continue its series of “HP Road Shows” with a public meeting on Friday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m., in Weston, Lewis County. The meeting is being co-sponsored by the Weston Historic Landmark Commission, Lewis County, and will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 222 Center Ave., Weston.
The one-hour meeting, presented by Sara Prior, education and planning coordinator for the SHPO, will introduce programs offered by the SHPO and discuss ideas to revitalize historic communities. The public will have the opportunity to express concerns, ask questions and share comments and ideas with Prior.
Members of historic landmark commissions, interested government officials and the general public are encouraged to participate. The SHPO hopes to empower communities to take a proactive stance to help protect their own city’s valuable historic resources.
The “HP Road Show” series is occurring across the state to visit with community members and discuss future historic preservation activities in West Virginia. The meetings are free and the public is invited to attend. The series allows the SHPO staff to meet with interested persons who help to carry out the agency’s mission to preserve West Virginia heritage. Those interested in hosting a meeting should contact Prior at (304) 558-0240 ext. 122, or e-mail her at [email protected].
