LOGAN, W.Va. – The Museum in the Park at Chief Logan State Park will host the annual Sue Browning Wildflower Hike at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 25. The event, named for a long-time member of the Logan Garden Club who helped establish the hike 30 years ago, is sponsored by Chief Logan State Park, the Woman’s Club of Omar, Museum in the Park and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History. It is free and open to the public.
West Virginia Division of Natural Resources personnel along with knowledgeable wildflower enthusiasts will guide groups of registered hikers along a few of the park’s 14 trails to see and photograph native flora and fauna. There are different paths for hikers to choose from depending upon their experience and endurance level.
Hikers will meet at the Museum in the Park at 8 a.m. for registration and a complimentary continental breakfast. Guided hikes will begin between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Afterward, participants will be served lunch at the Museum in the Park with a Wildlife Exhibit tour immediately to follow. Participants are encouraged to explore the park as well as other trails on their own once guided hikes have ended. Registration is required for those who wish to eat.

Museum in the Park is a regional cultural center showcasing the best in West Virginia history and the arts. It features changing exhibits and displays of artwork and historical items from the collections of the West Virginia State Museum and the State Archives. One area of the museum is dedicated to local and regional history. The museum’s operating hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
