CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Pam Harvit, president of the Loudon Heights Garden Club, will present “History of the Loudon Heights Garden Club and Neighborhood-Revisited” in the Archives and History Library at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston, on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The program begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Harvit will discuss the history of the garden club and the neighborhoods it encompasses within the Loudon Heights area. The homes of the 12 charter members which include the Laidley, Venable, Kay and Jackson families will be highlighted along with how those members influenced local, state and national gardening practices.
The Loudon Heights Garden Club originated in 1929 and became federated in 1932. It remains a vital component of the neighborhood today and its members have made it a priority to preserve their history.
After receiving bachelor of science and master of science degrees from West Virginia University, Harvit began working for Fortune 500 companies, where she has held several positions which include specialty and training responsibilities.
She has been a member of the Loudon Heights Garden Club for 20 years and is the current president.

The new bus turnaround is open, and there are handicapped spots available there. Others can park in the regular visitor parking area. Visitors should enter the doors at the front of the building. Patrons also may park behind the Culture Center after 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and enter the building at the back loading dock area.
