CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A 2015 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, has been awarded to the West Virginia State Museum in the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex. This award was earned through consistently great reviews on the TripAdvisor site by visitors to the museum. The state museum also is ranked as the top destination in Charleston on the site. This is the third time in the award’s five-year existence that the museum has received this recognition.
The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence honors select accommodations, attractions, and restaurants that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence. It uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews and opinions submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period as well as a business’s tenure and ranking on the Popularity Index on the site. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.
The State Museum is free and open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. For more information about the West Virginia State Museum, contact Charles Morris, director of museums, at 304-558-0220.
