The West Virginia Commission on the Arts of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History (WVDCH) will hold a news conference next Wednesday, April 18, at 1 p.m., in Parkersburg. An announcement will be made regarding the West Virginia Juried Exhibition 2007, which will be presented at the Parkersburg Arts Center Oct. 19, 2007 through Feb. 8, 2008. This is the first time in the exhibition’s 28-year history that it will be held outside the State Capital. The news conference will be held at the Parkersburg facility, located at 725 Market Street.
Participants available for comment will include Sam Winans, president of the Board of Trustees of the Parkersburg Arts Center and a West Virginia Commission on the Arts member; Abby Hayhurst, executive director of the Parkersburg Arts Center; and officials from the WVDCH.
The West Virginia Division of Culture and History, an agency of the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts, brings together the state’s past, present and future through programs and services in the areas of archives and history, the arts, historic preservation and museums. Its administrative offices are located at the Cultural Center in the State Capitol Complex in Charleston, which also houses the state archives and state museum.
