In keeping with Governor Joe Manchin III’s memorandum, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History will close its five museums, historic sites and administrative office locations from Dec. 24 - 25, and from Dec. 31 - Jan. 1, 2008, for the holiday season. This includes the Cultural Center at the State Capitol Complex in Charleston, which houses the state archives library, the state museum and administrative offices. Normal operating hours at the Cultural Center of 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and noon - 6 p.m. Sunday will be in effect from Dec. 26 - 30, and beginning Jan. 2, 2008. The Archives Library is closed on Sundays.
Other locations to be closed on Dec. 24 - 25, and Dec. 31 - Jan 1, 2008, include West Virginia Independence Hall in Wheeling, Ohio County; Grave Creek Mound Archaeology Complex in Moundsville, Marshall County; The Jenkins Plantation Museum in Green Bottom, Cabell County; and Museum in the Park in Logan, Logan County. These four sites will resume their normal operating hours from Dec. 26 - 30, and beginning Jan. 2, 2008.
