Governor Joe Manchin III will commemorate the seventh anniversary of 9/11 with a remembrance ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 11, at noon, in the Lower Rotunda of the State Capitol Building.
The program will include the Posting of Colors by the 130th Color Guard; the singing of the National Anthem by Tanner Sigman, member of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus; the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Fairhaven Christian School of Charleston; reflections by the Reverend Dr. Eileen Dumire of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Charleston; remarks by Jacqueline A. Proctor, deputy commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History; and remarks by Governor Joe Manchin. The program will conclude with the playing of taps by Jeff Flanagan on bugle and two bagpipe selections by Mark Nelson.
